Blade&Soul decorated the final stage of Tencent media conference on the 22nd of March. Ncsoft announced the test schedule for China.
Jae-Hyun Bae, The Producer of Blade&Soul, said “Personally I really want to make the game success in China. The circumstances and the conditions is better, so I believe the game could be successful this time.” He challenged Chinese market with Lineage and Aion, but both games didn’t succeed as much as he expected.
He has been managing the team for abroad separated from the rest of teams. The abroad team is not small in scale at all as well. As a result, Blade&Soul will have CBT in China during August.
He added “China is different in scale. They don’t separate CBT and OBT. The test for August will be more like FGT(Focused Group Test) with a few thousand users.”
He had two interviews at the event. The one for Korean media and the other for Chinese media. Each country’s media was busy to ask the services of the other country. However, He said “Users in China and korea are not different much. There might be the differences among generations, but no differences on nationality.”
He thinks the differences on preferable contents among countries are not about cultures and graphics, but more about the system itself. For example, Korean users are not much interested in Achievement System, but North American users take care about it a bit and Chinese users are mad at it.
Martial Arts are originated from China. Do Chinese gamers think the game as a challenge to Chinese tradition because the theme of Blade&Soul is based on Martial Arts in Korea? He does not think so. He believes that the martial arts in Blade&Soul are just other kinds of Martial arts to Chinese users’ point of view.
He also thinks that there are almost no differences between Korea and China from the technical point of view. He said “Pixar exists in China. Most visual arts staffs in Hollywood are Chinese. Therefore, most merits that Korean online games have are diminishing. Korea started the business a few years ahead of China and the gap between them is getting closer.”
At the end of the interview, he said “I just want to present the game as quickly as possible.
